Preparing Scholars For Success: CICS

Preparing Scholars For Success: CICS

Technology has become the face of the world’s future whether people want to accept it or not. Our daily lives are run by technology here in the United States of America. How do you most people get to work? Their car, or a subway train ran by technology. What do most people listen to on the way to work, if not the radio? Music setup through Bluetooth in their car. Smart homes are even becoming more prevalent as companies create new ideas on ways to integrate technology with your home, whether it be with cameras set up so that you can monitor your home at any time, doorbells that take a picture of someone’s face and send it to the phone of the homeowner so they know who is at their door, or appliances and heating/cooling systems that you can turn on and off at your convenience through an app on your smartphone.

This is just the very beginning for the era of technology. Even the internet only became public circa 1991, which is only 25 years ago. Imagine what it will be like in 15 years, or 5 even. There will be things possible through technology that nobody ever imagined. Medicine will change, transportation will change, jobs will change, everything will be better with the help of technology. Our generation is going to be the generation that shows what technology is capable of. That is one of the reasons that I decided to enroll in the CICS program at Ball State.

The Center for Information and Communication Sciences program at Ball State University helps create successful leaders, inventors, business workers, communicators, and better people all around. The Information and Communication Sciences program teaches scholars how to communicate and lead in ways that will get them noticed. The program helps develop skills in technology-based fields and business fields, and gives hands-on practice and experience through projects, groups, labs, and teamwork. The skills acquired throughout the program will prepare someone for success in a wide array of fields including – communication, leadership, and service. Information Technology jobs are expected to grow 22% in the United States over the next 4 years, according to an article on Job growth in the technological field is going to continue to soar past other industries, and arming yourself with a degree from the CICS program at Ball State is one of the foremost things someone can do when preparing for their future. America is on the Top Ten Countries with the Highest Technology, coming third to Japan and Finland. If we want to be first on that list, we need to inspire more young minds to go the science and technology route, and this program is a great start.
