As a recent participant of a team, I thought it would be appropriate to write a bit about my experience as well as mention some things that I noticed. Working on a team can either be very satisfying, or end up going horribly wrong. I feel that it is up to the team as a whole to work cooperatively to achieve a common goal. I have to say, all of the members on my team were exceptional in my recent experience.
Teamwork is perhaps the key component to any team. In fact, a recent article by Forbes magazine states that employees of an organization feel most valuable or recognized when teamwork is a part of their work life (Edmonds, 2017). There are many other things that employees cherish such as respect, trust, and integrity, but teamwork is really a key component. I believe that the reason for this is the relationships built through teamwork and the experiences are remembered. My team, for example, had a group message where we would not only talk about work, but also other things. I feel that this is one of the reasons we worked so well together.
It is important to build relationships among team members in order for teamwork to successfully take place. Organizational leaders should also recognize this and encourage some sort of team building exercise in order to build relationships among employees which will then lead to better teamwork and an overall increase in productivity
